How have you most constructively
dealt with disappointment and turned it into a learning experience?
When I have encountered a setback in my career, I always give myself
time to deal with the disappointment and reflect upon the circumstances,
figuring out why it happened.
Thereafter, I focus upon moving forward, the positive steps necessary
to recover even if at times it does not always feel like there is anything
positive about the situation but there always is.
I take into account, what I have learnt from the disappointment, what
it taught me about work or the sector/industry.
All these events help to offer me a new perspective on my career. There
are always benefits to consider, and this serves to help recover from
the disappointment and see beyond it.
Being an optimistic person, at work and in life, I look at my past achievements
reassure myself with the knowledge of how well I have performed in my
career up until that point
Once I have come to terms with a particular disappointment, I think
about the future, seeking career advice from a mentor thus allowing
an experienced person to help with my career development, using the
disappointment as a focus for change.
