I was given a task of increasing staff output in a retail organization and my first priority was to define expected outcomes so that everyone in the organization understood where their efforts should be directed.
I discovered every person within the team had their own approach to generating new ideas so I focused on areas where creative solutions were needed instead of wasting time on areas that generate little or no return to the individual or organization.
To minimize fear of failure, I instigated certain steps
allowing staff to regard mistakes as learning opportunities and created
a reward scheme for employees who take prudent risks.
